International Kindness Day | Funny Holidays

"Kindness... costs nothing, yet means a lot"

It has been 24 years since a number of non-governmental organizations from different parts of the world established November 13th as International Day of Kindness.

The mission of this "holiday" is to popularize kindness as a behavioral model that forms the basis of good interpersonal relationships and communication, leading to progress within every community.

In times when people are mostly focused on themselves, their own lives, thoughts, and worries, becoming insensitive to the problems of their surroundings, kindness is a model that connects and creates a beautiful and warm atmosphere among people.

Moreover, kindness towards others also brings personal satisfaction and fulfillment, while reducing stress. Kind individuals are often the most liked in society, emitting positive energy and serving as influencers who, through their behavior, frequently encourage others to act positively.

How to celebrate International Day of Kindness?

International Day of Kindness is celebrated worldwide through various panel discussions and lectures that emphasize the importance of this virtue in both personal and business interactions with people.

To celebrate this day on an individual level, what each of us can do doesn't have to be learned through lectures and conferences. Sometimes, a simple smile is enough for an act of kindness.

However, if you want to be more creative, here are a few suggestions for celebrating the Day of Kindness:

  • Reach out and kindly exchange a few words with neighbors and colleagues.
  • Give someone a compliment.
  • Offer your seat on public transportation to the elderly and pregnant women.
  • Carry groceries for an older person.
  • Respond to traffic jams and annoying sirens with patience and a smile.
  • Treat someone to a drink for no particular reason.
  • Help a stranger find a bus stop.
  • Call or send a message to someone you haven't seen in a while.
  • Leave a tip even if you're not completely satisfied with the service.
  • Donate blood voluntarily and help someone recover.
  • Donate to charitable causes according to your means.
