Museum of Red Star Belgrade Football Club | Museums of Serbia

Red Star Football Club is the most successful football club, not only in Serbia but also in the region. True, this is partly due to numerous trophies won during the existence of various, now non-existent, "Yugoslav" states, but the fact that they are all displayed in the same club's trophy cabinets and belong to the same club is indisputable.

FK Crvena Zvezda was founded shortly after World War II, on March 4, 1945. Throughout its existence, it has achieved so many magnificent sports successes that the establishment of a club museum was a logical step in line with the trends of the greatest European and world clubs at that time. The Zvezda Museum was opened in March 1985, within the premises of the Crvena Zvezda stadium, where it is still located today.

In the rich museum collection consisting of over 1,400 exhibits, there are replicas of all the trophies, cups, and medals that Red Star has ever won, from the first one in 1946 to the present day. Hanging from the museum's ceiling are displayed club pennants from all the foreign clubs that Red Star has faced throughout its history, from every continent, ranging from some that no longer exist to those that still shine brightly in European and world football. From season to season, with each new participation of Red Star in European competitions, this collection becomes richer and more colorful. The museum also houses a special exhibition dedicated to the "Stars of Red Star," i.e., the best players who have ever worn the red and white jersey.

However, the most valuable exhibits in the museum arrived six years after its establishment, in 1991, when Red Star, by winning the European Cup, placed the so-called "big-eared trophy" in its showcases, the greatest achievement a European football club can accomplish. The name of Crvena Zvezda was engraved on the most prestigious trophy in club football, becoming an indelible part of the history of the world's most popular game. Right next to it, in a prestigious spot in a glass case, half a year later, the Toyota Trophy was also displayed, intended for the club world champion, the winner of the match between the European and South American champions. In that year, Belgrade's Crvena Zvezda was the champion of Europe and the world, and rightfully so, that chapter of Red Star's history holds a special and significant place in the museum.

The mentioned trophies, of course, did not come by themselves. In order to reach that point, Red Star had to be the best team in the country. To this day, they have managed to achieve that 29 times (18 times in SFRY, 6 times in FR Yugoslavia, and 10 times since the independence of Serbia). Miniatures of each of these trophies are displayed in the museum, along with 24 trophies intended for the winner of the national cup. In addition to these national trophies, it is worth mentioning two trophies from the so-called Danube Cup (1958 and 1968) - a competition in which teams from Danube countries competed, in a kind of Central European championship.

The Red Star Museum tells the story of one of the greatest clubs and sports societies in Southeast Europe. In terms of fandom, you may love or dislike Red Star, but their achievements are undeniable facts and part of European and world football history. They have gained even more significance in recent decades when the "big-eared trophy" has become so elusive for clubs from this part of Europe.

Therefore, we warmly recommend visiting the museum and exploring the magnificent collection of sports trophies. The museum's working hours are Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 16:30, as well as Saturdays from 09:00 to 15:00, except on days when matches are held at the Rajko Mitić Stadium.
