Days of Vranje | Tourist Calendar of Serbia

Cultural and entertainment event "Days of Vranje" takes place every year in the second half of August, on the central streets of the city in the southernmost part of Serbia, known for its rich and authentic folk tradition and folklore.

During the course of this usually five-day event, numerous fairs, exhibitions, performances, and shows by local creators, artists, orchestras, and cultural-artistic societies are organized in the center of Vranje.

To give the celebration a popular and entertaining character, popular entertainers ensure that their concerts and performances attract thousands of visitors to Vranje every year.

One of the main goals of the event is to revive the specific spirit of old Vranje, which the great writer Bora Stanković portrayed so faithfully in his timeless works. Therefore, the writer's birth house, along with the National Museum in Vranje, is the main venue for the cultural and traditional part of the event.

Ethno fair, music concerts, and performances are held at multiple locations in the city center, creating a true festival atmosphere in Vranje during these five days.

The event begins with a traditional parade of folk ensembles through the city streets, followed by their magnificent performances on the central city stage. Throughout the event, visitors have the opportunity to attend a traditional school of knitting, crocheting, and decorative embroidery, enjoy the presentation of traditional Vranje cuisine, and observe the competition in making the famous Vranje pie called "samse."

During the day, there are performances by National Theatre Bora Stanković, while the evening hours are reserved for literary evenings featuring famous choirs and popular entertainers.
