Therefore, all those who wish to get to know it better are welcome to visit Belgrade's museums, cinemas, and parks.

Below, we present cultural, entertainment, and other free events in Belgrade that you can enjoy throughout the year.

National Museum Belgrade

One of the most significant cultural symbols of the Serbian capital is the National Museum in Belgrade. It is beloved among Serbs and tourists who want to firsthand experience the multicultural heritage of the central Balkans and Europe. You can embark on a cultural walk from prehistory to the modern era every day, but if you decide to visit the museum on Sundays between 10 am and 6 pm, admission will be free.

Anyone in Belgrade should take a stroll through the premises of the National Museum, which preserves invaluable exhibits for Serbian history and contemporary culture. In addition to providing insights into history, this museum is also an inexhaustible source of inspiration and knowledge about national identity, which you should explore in Republic Square in Belgrade.

Free Walking Tours

Since 2009, following the example of the largest European metropolises, Belgrade has its own professional tour guides who take all interested tourists, as well as locals, on a free walking tour of the old city core of Belgrade. With plenty of interesting information and stories from Serbian and Belgrade history, even native Belgraders will undoubtedly hear and learn something new about their city. The three-hour city walk has become one of the most attractive events in Belgrade's tourist offer in recent years. However, although the walk is free, a symbolic contribution to the enthusiastic and energetic guides would be a nice gesture of gratitude.

Danube and Sava River Cruises

Free events in Belgrade also include the opportunity to get to know the capital city from its rivers. Every year during the summer months, Belgraders and tourists can enjoy free cruises on the Sava and Danube rivers in Belgrade, which is an excellent way to relax during the summer and enjoy pleasant evenings on the rivers of Belgrade, sailing around its most beautiful landmarks.

During the two-hour cruise, you will have the opportunity to see Great War Island, Nebojša Tower, Kalemegdan, and the bridges of Belgrade from a different perspective. And at the magical meeting point of the rivers, you can make a wish. The cruises are organized by the "Kej" Yachting Club and the City of Belgrade.

The festival takes place during the last 15 days of the year, when the halls of the Belgrade Fair are open to all those who want to experience the special New Year magic in a large holiday amusement park. Originally intended for the youngest visitors, the festival has evolved into a true family event over the years, offering performances, ice skating rinks, mini concerts, and shopping that can be enjoyed by all generations. Although certainly not the only free festival, it stands out as one of the most joyful events that Belgrade offers throughout the year.

Museum of Yugoslavia

One of the most visited Belgrade museums is the Museum of Yugoslav History, which provides a completely free insight into the symbols of the former state every first Thursday of the month from 4 pm to 6 pm. The Museum of Yugoslav History consists of three parts: the Old Museum, Museum 25th of May, and House of Flowers, where the tomb of the lifelong president of the SFRY, Josip Broz, is located.

A contemporary interpretation of Yugoslav history is one of the best ways to learn about and understand Serbia's recent history, and to recall important memories of this period. You can enjoy the free exhibition tours on May 4th and 25th as well.
